第一句是什么意思看不太懂。关键是 relevance 在这两句话里的意思，我查了一下，最可能的意思有相关性、适当、实用性。不知道哪个意思合适，看第二句，好像实用性更合适，如果是这样的话，第二句的意思就是：“你需要更清楚的阐述该研究的实用性”，那第一句又是什么意思呢？

前后都应该是相关性，后一句应该是：你需要更加明确地阐述这项研究的相关性！

应该不是研究现状。最有可能的就是相关性和实用性的意思。如果是相关的意思，第二句应该是you need to more clearly state the relevance of the research to that area. 好像后面的to that area不能省略啊，不然光一个 relevance of the research 感觉没有一个相关的对象一样。
