Some people who have been successful in the society don’t attribute their success to the theoretical knowledge they learned from their university. Do you agree or disagree?
Key words: personal achievement vs. theoretical knowledge
People have long been interested in identify the forces that contribute to personal achievement. Some people advocate that their accomplishments can be ascribed to the theoretical knowledge they acquired from the university. This statement has aroused some debate. In this essay, efforts will be made to explore this issue before any reasonable conclusion is drawn.
The advertising is discouraging people from being different individuals and makes people to be or seem to be the same. Do you agree or disagree?
Key words: the influence of advertisements over individuals
Advertisements have permeated every aspects of our life and thus have exerted considerable influence on our mind and behavior. Yet whether the influence is negative or positive has become the focus of debate recently. From my perspective, advertisements are of more benefits than drawbacks for the reasons listed as following.

Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding changes. Others, however, think that changes is always a good thing. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
让我们来看看雅思考官给出的范文开头，很值得我们思考我们在雅思的写作准备上，是不是已经走火入魔：
Over the last half century the pace of change in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectations. This has been driven by technological and scientific breakthroughs that are changing the whole way we view the world on an almost daily basis. This means that change is not always a personal option, but an inescapable fact of life, and we need to constantly adapt to keep pace with it.
再来看另外一个例子：
It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. However, it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician. Discuss both these views and give your own opinions.
The relative importance of natural talent and training is a frequent topic of discussion when people try to explain different levels of ability in, for example, sport, art or music.
可见真正的高手是“手中无剑，心中有剑”的大侠，不在乎文字，所到处气息逼人。
如何写中间段：
Correctness, Coherence and consistency, Cogency, Conciseness.
中心段的结构：
Topic sentence: highlight the central point of this paragraph, serve to support an argument.
Supporting sentences: sentences for the extension, explanation and justification of the topic sentence。（each paragraph with 4 to 5 supporting sentences or so.）
审视问题的角度：
A 社会类题目
经济角度： 社会的经济利益，经济发展，发展经济的契机
科技角度：科技发展带来的机遇和危机，工业生产，高科技设备，媒体，电脑，自动化，数字化等。
社会角度：社会的整体良性发展，环境问题，社区安全，执法系统，卫生状况，医疗建设，公共设施，文化艺术，旅游观光，城市风貌等。
公众角度： 公众利益，个人的利益和便利，衣食住行等。
B．教育类题目
社会能力和工作能力：年轻人在社会上的生存能力，交际能力，交流能力，实践能力，工作能力等。
学校表现和学习能力：学生在理论知识方面的掌握和学习能力的提高，学校的课程安排，设施配置，教学方法和社会要求的接轨，重视理论还是实践，教学质量，课堂气氛，教师素质，教学方法的革新等。
性格和情感的健康：业余爱好，课后活动，性格开朗活积极，行为端正，暴力色情媒体，社区安全，犯罪率上升，家庭背景，父母教育，家庭暴力，单亲家庭，贫困家庭，父母行为对子女的影响等。
身体健康：学生是否参加体育活动，养成良好的生活习惯，常见的问题是青少年过分使用电脑，不注意体育锻炼，生活习惯不好等。
Do the positive effects of advertising outweigh its negative effects?
经济角度：promote consumption, enhance economy
公众角度一： make consumers informed of the latest information of commodities
公众角度二： exaggerating, misleading, stimulate consumers to buy what they don’t need.
分别形成三个中心句：
1. one of the main functions of advertising is to assist consumers to find and buy suitable products.
2. meanwhile, advertising serves to stimulate consumption and contributes to economic development.
3. despite its importance, there is no denying that every now and then, advertising leads consumers into an impulsive purchase, thereby causing wasteful spending.
如何解决supporting sentences：
1. explanation 解释和说明中心句的意思或原因。
2. extension 对主题句拓展，阐述其影响
3. example 举例说明
4. sorting 当主题句有几个分论点支持的时候，将分论点分类说明。
5. contrasting 描述相反的情形，尤其针对无法落笔的情形。
比如：
主题句： One of the main functions of advertising is to assist consumers to find and buy suitable products.
【1】 As for the majority of people, it is unlikely for them to get out of their way to have an overall knowledge of commodities they need; thus advertisements serve as an effective and up-to-date channel of information rendering them informed of new products.(explanation/paraphrase/make the statement more explicit and concrete.)
【2】 With the presence of advertising, a consumer is able to acquire the latest information in the market, such as properties of a product or service, and thereby make a wiser buying decision. (extension, further statement and exemplification.)
【3】 In contrast, without advertising, a consumer is at the risk of purchasing a product that fails to meet all of his or her needs, because of lack of knowledge of better alternatives in the market. (contrasting)
下面开始第二段：（主题句参照上文）
【1】 Besides the informative merits of advertising, it is also beneficial in boosting economy and arouse the confidence of consumption.(explanation topic sentence.)
【2】 Advertising describes a product in such an impressive way that it always succeeds in attracting target customers and driving them into a final purchase.
【3】 Furthermore, advertising reminds the potential customers of their needs.(the above two sentences have utilized “sorting”, that is to say, classification of the different layers of a certain statement.)
【4】 For example, the advertisement of chocolates on television always reminds you impressively that you need a bar of chocolate to appetize yourself.(exemplification)
【5】 Hence, by these two approaches advertising encourages spending and contributes to economic development.
接着第三段，大家看看分别都用了什么方法：
【1】 It is a shared convention in the advertising industry that some properties of a product are highlighted while the others are simplified.
【2】 A product, when promoted well, will be highly desired by many, as customers are misguided to ignore the products’ downsides.(extension, to indicate the effect caused by advertising.)
【3】 It accounts for why many shoppers regret their buying decisions before long, observing that what they have brought is not what they actually need or fails to live p to their expectations.
【4】 Cosmetics and dietary supplements are among those standards examples, costing individual buyers a lot but not achieving desirable outcomes.

我陆续选登一些我自己辅导的学生，按照我的辅导思路写出来的雅思大作文，登出来的文章都是未经任何修改的，这样可以看到不足和长处。当然，我需要指出的是，优秀的雅思作文除了思路之外，还必须要有足够的词汇（尽管可以简化），还需要一定的语法知识，而这些都是老师无法在短短一天的时间里所充分涉及的。但是，如果没有足够的策略，有词汇和语法知识也不能够充分发挥。
题目：Some people argue that immigrants should adopt the local culture when immigrants to a new country. An alternative view is that they can adapt to a new environment by establish a minority community. Discuss these two views and give your opinion.
Currently, the progress of globalization contributes to the high mobility of population. In the meantime, the immigrants are confronted with the problem that how to adapt to the new environment. Whether they should establish a minority community is open to debate. Some people contend that immigrants should embrace the local culture while others assert that they should retain their own customs. From my perspective, the acceptance of new culture is of more benefits.
It is universally believed that adopting the local culture can create numerous virtues. First and foremost, it promotes the integration into the local society, which is essential for the living in a new country. Obviously, the locals prefer to be friendly to the immigrants who understand their conventions. On the contrary, it is embarrassing that the settler disobeys the local customs, which repels the residents. For instance, the British regard the person late for an invitation as impolite. Moreover, immigrants who merge into the local culture tend to be more successful in career. That is to say, migrants can act properly and get access to achievement through observing and recognizing the local customs. In addition, the communication of different cultures enables people to remove culture barriers and form a multi-culture environment.
It is common that immigrants establish a minority community to counteract the stress caused by the culture shock and increase confidence in a new country. Without the community, migrants may suffer from homesickness and cannot adapt to the new environment. Furthermore, in this way immigrants can maintain their traditions and preserve their cultural heritages. Nevertheless, the locals may feel threatened and be hostile to the migrants.
It can be concluded that although establishing a minority community may bring positive effects, accepting the local culture leads to better lives for immigrants. Therefore, the migrants should attempt to embrace the local culture.
